The green emerald is considered the most prized and valuable gemstone from the Beryl mineral family from deep, rich greens to the palest, springtime pastels, emerald has the perfect color for the green-lover in you
Emerald crystals were first discovered in Tanzania in 1969 by a local farmer in eluvial gravel and has since been mined with significant deposits located in the Lake Manyara region. The surface of these rough emeralds are heavily etched, and these gems can contain a number of fluid and crystalline inclusions. Multi-phase inclusions can also occur, often with multiple crystalline phases of carbonate minerals, quartz, or chrysoberyl.
Emeralds are the stone that sets the standard by which all green gemstones are measured. The most-famous member of the beryl family, emerald is prized for its variety of greens, often with secondary blue or yellow hues.
